Commander Koenig, call your service.

In keeping with the Mr Barack Hussein Obama policy of posturing without actually doing anything, Nasa announces completion of Moonbase Alpha–the computer game, not an actual moonbase.

But how will this make Muslims feel better about themselves?

  1. Dude! Don't hate on Moonbase Alpha! It's not an actual moonbase but it's got some good press from Rock, Paper, Shotgun (link).

I haven't played it myself (won't run on my machine; it's nice that it's free, though).

If you want something nice and spacey, David, I'd suggest Orbiter. Quite pretty, and suitably technical that you could while some time away learning how to perform orbital rendezvous, lunar insertions and planetary slingshots.

And it has spaceplanes. Spaceplanes! And "What If" addons, which add things like the Von Braun-planned ferry rockets, wheel stations, lunar spaceships, etc.

  3. Wunderbear,

Thanks for the tip on Orbiter. This looks amazing.

  4. No surprise. Since Apollo, NASA has produced more space art than spacecraft.
