In a staggering example of originality, UFO is getting a big screen remake.I'd advise keeping expectations really low.

ReplyDeleteWhat got me about this series was it was suppossed to be a "War of the Worlds" but neither side really seemed to be trying very hard.

After having millions of people killed the entire world would be united and mobilized against a future attack.
In "UFO" it's a secret war.
If it was not in the public best interest to know about it, the aliens could have 'spilled the beans' at any time.
**Titled of course "Veterans Day".

Yep, the green guys keep sending one UFO at a time, and the humans keep launching three interceptors or fewer. With one missile apiece. In the nose. With no guidance system. Almost as if they wanted to fight the aliens, but keep it sportsmanlike. Or that's as much special effects budget as the studio had.
ReplyDeleteI think that a lot of the charm of the series was the models. Visible wires and obvious shooting in an aquarium are features, not bugs, in my opinion. CGI-izing the thing, as will almost certainly happen, would ruin it all.
CGI for the spacecraft, puppets for the actors?
