Recently elected leader of the Holy-but-Secular Gaian Church, the Ecopope Algore I, announced the "Serial dawning of a new age of Greendom" as he spoke from pulpit/compost heap Monday.
"There will be a complete overhaul to the governments of various nations, including compulsory swearing of all national leaders upon the Tome of Druids (formerly the Kyoto Protocol)."
The Ecopope was selected in a landslide by the College of Parrots, and announced to the world when white steam from the Holy Hummus-n-lentil medley puffed out from the Totem of Knowledge...and quickly captured by a bell jar to offset CO2 emissions.
Algore I intends to use the first 24 hours to properly canonize the blessed saints of the Gaian Church. Among the nominees are John Muir, Jane Goodall and Captain Planet.
