It's time NASA started to think about the parts of their astronauts below the waist, so to speak. A voyage to Mars would be at _least_ three years (for a quick flags-and-footprints stop) or four and a half years for an extended stay. Asking people to stay celibate that long is a bit much, and you certainly don't want hammer-waving jealous lovers on a spacecraft. I think the most logical solution would be to recruit and assign married couples as couples. (And for a bonus, the ideal mission would be one het and one hom couple to minimize infidelity issues.)
